I have been in Jonathan’s Core Awareness Program for about a year and a half. I originally started Core Awareness Training because I hoped that by strengthening my core muscles I would alleviate some lower back pain because of degenerative disc disease, but I have found that it offers much more than that. I have noticed benefits not only in helping reduce the back pain but also tightening of abdominal muscles, better posture, better balance and overall better fitness. This improvement in strength and balance has translated into a greater enhancement in my skiing ability, which in turn has made me enjoy the sport more than ever.
Jonathan keeps the class moving quickly and I particularly like the constantly changing variety of exercises, sometimes using different pieces of equipment such as bands, weights or balls. As a teacher, he demonstrate the exercises with knowledge and humor. He is a good motivator and good at pushing to one’s limits but not beyond. He is careful to point out the safe way of doing an exercise as well as indicate what would not be a safe way. I have found Core Awareness Training to be very challenging and rewarding, both mentally and physically.

When I started this class I thought I was in fairly good shape and was just curious as to what it was all about. I took one class and I realized that I wasn’t really in very good shape at all. I couldn’t even do one pushup! I liked the workout itself and how I felt after it. I also liked having Jonathan as a teacher/trainer. He makes sure that we work hard, but we also have fun. He works one-on-one with each of us in every class to ensure that we are doing everything properly to get the best results possible. Jonathan is also very knowledgeable in fitness and the human body. He helps me out every time I hurt myself and it almost always feels better immediately. I have been in training for 5 months now and I can see and feel the results. I have a lot more strength and balance, my flexibility is improving, and I am much leaner than I was when I started. I can’t wait to go skiing this winter and apply what I’ve learned in Jonathan’s class to my skiing. I recommend the Core Awareness Training class and Jonathan as a trainer to anyone who wants to take their athletic ability to the next level.

Just one class gave me a new sense of my posture and in particular the area around my waist and rib cage. The moves look deceptively simple, but oh my gosh, the next day I knew I had reached places that other types of exercise don’t reach. I regularly participate in weight training and aerobics but this was completely different and much more powerful than either. I want to include it in my workouts -- if only I can find someone to teach it where I live!
